About Us
1975
The JBC story began in 1975, when Jean-Baptiste Claes lent his initials to the very first JBC store in Schulen. Since then, the fashion retailer has grown into a leading family business that serves every family with heart and soul.
1985
In 1985, Jean handed the baton to his children, Bart and Ann, who run JBC side by side today as one of Belgium's largest clothing chains. JBC boasts no fewer than 115 stores across Belgium and Luxembourg, as well as an award-winning online store.
2015
The entire #JBCfamily is proud of its Belgian roots and strongly believes in being rooted in the local community and supporting local talent—exemplified by initiatives like their "Local Markets," where Belgian talent gets a chance to shine. JBC strives to offer affordable, high-quality clothing produced with respect for the planet and all its inhabitants. Furthermore, the brand has been an active member of the Fair Wear Foundation since April 1, 2015, and was the first Belgian retailer to sign the Bangladesh Safety Accord. In 2018, Ann Claes was named CSR Professional of the Year—a wonderful recognition of these efforts.

2021
JBC also places a strong emphasis on sustainability within its stores: in 2021, the company opened its first concept store in Leuven, focusing on sustainability and a family-oriented shopping experience.
Interactive features—such as a DIY recycling machine, a ‘Studio Unique’ repair corner, and interactive screens—teach children all about sustainable fashion in a playful way. As the icing on the cake, JBC received the X2 Award in 2021 for being the most progressive company in the field of gender equality.
